On 31 July 2020, Congressman Lafayette de Andrada presented a new version of the Electric Energy Code and amendment proposals should be sent before the end of August. This codification project aims at strengthening and perfecting this sector’s legislation as well as increasing transparency and clarity in the regulatory framework. Some of its more relevant subjects are (a) vehicle recharge; (b) distributed generation; and (c) some proposals of the Electricity Sector Modernization Bill. This consolidation of the electric energy sector is an important step which must still be perfected to solve old problems; however, there is a long way to go before such bill is voted and published.
