Livraria Cultura bets on a new operating model – reduces number of stores and creates subscription service to overcome crisis

The president of Livraria Cultura, Sergio Herz, believes that his new business model will be a fresh start for the bookstore chain’s operations. The new plan, which was formulated with the assistance of Felsberg Advogados, will be put into practice from November 2021. Aiming to pay suppliers, Livraria Cultura has developed a unique online payment system with publishers, which has been very well received. Also focusing on customers on the other hand, Cultura has started a subscription club, which will allow the member to take any book from its stores, and if he does not return it within 30 days, the book will be sold to him with 20% discount. The monthly subscription cost is BRL 14.90.

A new store is being opened in November at Shopping Market Place, in São Paulo, which will come “a new face”, with a renewed focus on a close relationship with the customer’s desires and needs.
