Legal impacts of coronavirus

The COVID-19 pandemic’s global impact challenged the stability of civil and commercial relations. Being an event of force majeure, it opened the possibility to review contractual obligations and use legal instruments to attempt to alleviate the damages caused by the spread of the new coronavirus. Among other measures, a reduction of tax collection and the reconfiguration of labor relations can help alleviate the heavy burden of the pandemic on businesses. The Federal Government can also intervene in a way that limits both individual and economic freedoms to protect the public interest and combat this public health emergency.
