Gol and Avianca merger still has unanswered questions; understand the transaction

The creation of Grupo Abra, unifying the control of the airlines Gol and Avianca, has impacted the aviation market.

Valor Econômico has published an article detailing the transaction, with comments from our partners Thomas Felsberg and Paula Salles.

For Thomas, “the union of the companies under the same holding will bring a series of cost reductions, including in aircraft leasing and the negotiation of contracts of maintenance and fuel”. Paula stated in the article that “the union will need approvals from regulatory bodies in the aviation sector as well competition authorities in several countries, including the United States”.
