Federal Council of Medicine allows telemedicine during the COVID-19 crisis

Through audiovisual media, remote medical services are now possible. The Federal Council of Medicine authorized such practice by means of a letter sent to the Ministry of Health in light of the scenario of pandemic in Brazil. This breakthrough in Brazilian medicine will help avoid overcrowded medical facilities and allow for a greater number of patients to obtain proper medical guidance. However, only some categories of telemedicine are exceptionally authorized during this time and teleconsultations in general remain prohibited.
