Brazil joins the Budapest Treaty – An important step for patents involving microorganisms

Brazil formalized its accession to the Budapest Treaty through Legislative Decree No. 174/25, simplifying the deposit of biological material in microorganism patents. This measure represents a significant advancement for the protection of biotechnological inventions in the country, with direct impacts on research, innovation, and international competitiveness.
