Autonomy of the Central Bank of Brazil approved

On Wednesday, the House of Representatives approved Supplementary Law No. 19/2019, giving formal autonomy to the Central Bank of Brazil. The project is now going for presidential ratification.

According to the new law, the Brazilian Central Bank is now an autarchy of a special nature, with no ties to any ministry. Currently, the Central Bank of Brazil is an autarchy linked to the Ministry of Economy.
