Senate approves draft legislation which delays the entry into force of the General Data Protection Act (LGPD)

Covid-19 News

Draft bill nº 1179/2020 includes provisions about the Emergency and Transitional Legal Regime relating to Private Law legal relations during the pandemic and was approved by the Federal Senate. Among other measures, this bill provides for the postponement, to 2021, of the entry into force of the General Data Protection Act. This modification is seen as necessary to “not encumber companies” facing significant economic difficulties. However, the bill still needs to be submitted to the House of Representatives for approval.
