New rules for nutrition labeling of packaged foods

Felsberg in The News

Marianne Albers and Thais Fernandes, from the Public and Regulatory Law area at Felsberg Advogados, were consulted by the Migalhas site on ANVISA’s new rules for food nutrition labeling.

The new ANVISA rules will come into force on Sunday 9 October, bringing significant changes such as the front nutritional labeling and the insertion of a symbol indicating the presence of high percentages of certain nutrients relevant to health.

Non-compliance with the new rules may characterize a sanitary infraction and lead to the application of penalties, among them a fine of up to BRL 1.5 million and even suspension of the sale and collection of the product.
