The Municipality of Sao Paulo has instituted a policy of reducing judicial involvement within direct and indirect municipal government bodies through Law nº 17.324/2020. The main goal of said policy is to reduce litigation and promote negotiation and a consensual form of dispute resolution. Indeed, this law includes a provision allowing the inclusion of mediation clauses in different types of contract and a provision granting the possibility to resort to arbitration to resolve disputes for property rights.
