On 7 January, Federal Law No. 15,088/2025 was published with new wording for article 49 of Federal Law No. 12,305/2010 (National Solid Waste Policy or PNRS).
The PNRS prohibited the import of hazardous solid waste and rejects, as well as solid waste whose characteristics could cause harm to the environment, public health, animal health, and plant health. Now, with the new wording, the import of solid waste and rejects in general is prohibited, except in specific cases.
