IBAMA provides guidance on compliance with obligations related to Federal Environmental Licensing – COVID-19

Covid-19 News

The Brazilian Institute of the Environment and Renewable Natural Resources (IBAMA) released a statement presenting a set of temporary guidelines for federally licensed companies regarding compliance with environmental obligations. In light of the pandemic and its impact on economic activities, companies should, within the realm of possibility, ensure their compliance with Environmental Licensing obligations. In the event that compliance is not possible, companies must minimize the effects and the duration of noncompliance and identify its causes. It is important to note that IBAMA will consider the exceptional circumstances and added difficulties in meeting all environmental obligations before proceeding to any administrative penalty.
