House of Representatives approves Bill which allows postponement of maternity leave

Felsberg in The News

The House of Representatives approved Bill nº 8.702/2017 which allows working mothers to extend their time with their child if the baby is hospitalized for over three days by delaying the start of their maternity leave. According to the bill, the leave would only resume once the mother and child are discharged and go home. However, this measure still needs to pass through the Senate and be ratified by the President, and the project does not provide details on how communication with the employer should be made nor how the payment of salary during the child’s period of hospitalization would look like.
