Director of ABDIB presents investment opportunities in Brazil’s infrastructure

Felsberg in The News

On 9 and 10 May, Felsberg Advogados held the seminar “A Closer Understanding: Brazil and Singapore”. With the support of Braddell Brothers, Allen & Gledhill, São Paulo Negócios, InvestSP and the Brazilian Embassy in Singapore, the event presented investment and business opportunities for companies in both countries, and discussed the challenges to be faced in the process of rapprochement. In a hybrid format, the event was attended by authorities and executives from both countries. One of the main points under discussion was the resumption of investments in infrastructure in Brazil, and the possibility of partnerships between investors in Singapore and Brazilian companies in the sector. Some of the existing opportunities in Brazil for Singaporean investors were presented by Roberto Figueiredo Guimarães, the Director of Planning and the Economy at ABDIB – Brazilian Association of Infrastructure and Base Industries. He highlighted the existing need for investments in areas such as transport and logistics (R$ 186 billion), sanitation (R$ 23 billion) and energy (R$ 14 billion).

Singapore is today a stable hub for and an important gateway to the rest of Asia, whether in terms of corporate structure, tax treatment, dispute resolution, or protection of intellectual property rights or data. For Brazilian companies, the Brazil-Singapore Double Taxation Treaty and the International Commercial Court of Singapore are just two reasons to take a closer look at the city-state with the 13th highest GDP per capita in the world.

Roberto Guimarães, Director of Planning and the Economy at Abdib, was part of one of the panels during the event and spoke about the possibilities for business between Brazil and Singapore. Check it out at: https://lnkd.in/dEpsg_aH
