Law nº 14,020/2020 instituted the Emergency Program for the Maintenance of Employment and Income and provides complementary measures to face the current international public health emergency and state of public calamity. Such measures had previously been provided by Provisional Measure nº 936. The law preserves the main provisions of PM nº 936 but explicitly provides for the application of emergency measures in a partial or total manner by means of individual or collective bargaining agreements for employees according to their salaries. The new law also guarantees employees their work post.
