The National Congress last week overturned President Jair Bolsonaro’s vetoes to the tax regime for football corporations (sociedade anônima do futebol -SAF), provided for in articles 31 and 32 of the Football Corporation Law (Law No. 14,193/2021).
The aforementioned Law introduced a new form of organization that ensures accountability mechanisms for managers, with the establishment of standards of governance, control and transparency for professional football. This better defined responsibility allows easier access to credit, resulting in improved solidity for the entire market.
