Carnaval is not a holiday: know the rights of the worker

With the approach of Carnaval, canceled for the second year in a row due to the pandemic, doubts arise as to the rights of employers and employees. In an interview with Folha on the subject, partner Maurício Pepe De Lion commented that “it is necessary to differentiate between a holiday and an optional period” because a holiday is for everyone and the optional period is only for civil servants.

Regarding the decisions taken by the City Hall and Government of the State of São Paulo, Maurício explained that the bodies “determined that, between February 28 and March 2, until noon, it is optional. So, depending on the areas, there are no working hours”.
