With 3,000 active landfills, Brazil still has difficulties in properly disposing of waste

Felsberg in The News

Based on the New Legal Framework for Basic Sanitation, the beginning of August was defined as the deadline for an end to landfills in Brazil. However, there are around 3,000 locations that still use this environmentally inadequate disposal method. Brazil produces more than 77 million tons of garbage per year, and of this total, approximately 40% is sent to landfills, in an environmentally inappropriate way, which makes this challenge even greater.
