On 1 March 2021, President Jair Bolsonaro, through Decree No. 10,639, approved the regulatory and organizational structure of the National Agency of Water and Basic Sanitation (ANA). The ANA started to have a greater role after the approval of the new legal framework, with the challenge of rationalizing regulation in the country and providing predictability to attract the necessary investments for universalization.
