Annual Data Update of the Brazilian Central Bank RDE-IED System – 2021 (Base Year: 2020)

The Brazilian companies that, on December 31, 2020, were recipients of direct foreign investment must, until March 31, 2021, update in the RDE-IED system of the Central Bank their annual information regarding foreign investments or, also, present the Economic-Financial Statement, considering the value of their assets or net worth, under the terms of the Bacen Circular No. 3,689, of December 16, 2013.

The Brazilian companies recipients of direct foreign investment, which had, as of December 31, 2020, assets or net worth of less than R$ 250,000,000.00 (two hundred and fifty million reais) shall update their investment data in the RDE-IED system of the Brazilian Central Bank until March 31, 2021.

Additionally, then Brazilian companies with assets or net worth of two hundred and fifty million reais (R$ 250,000,000.00) or more on the base date of December 31, 2020 shall submit the Economic-Financial Statement to the Brazilian Central Bank system, respecting the limit date of March 31, 2021. It is important to note that the Economic-Financial Statement should also be presented in the course of 2021 by the Brazilian companies that fulfill the requirements described above, observing the following deadlines: (i) regarding the base date of March 31, 2021, it must be submitted until June 30, 2021; (ii) regarding the base date of June 30, 2021, it must be submitted until September 30, 2021; and (iii) regarding the base date of September 30, 2021, it must be submitted until December 31, 2021.

It should be noted that the absence of updating such data or to deliver the Economic and Financial Statement may result in the imposition of fines by Brazilian Central Bank, according to Article 60 of the Brazilian Central Bank Circular No. 3857/2017.
