Competition authorities act in response to COVID-19

The worldwide impact of the pandemic on competition has led authorities to seek means to mitigate anticompetitive practices and protect consumers during the crisis. The Administrative Council for Economic Defense (CADE) has filed inquiries to investigate companies in the pharmaceutical and medical supply sector. Competition authorities worldwide are acting to restrain abusive conduct by companies in the public health supplies market, to incentivize virtual work from home and to subsidize financially affected companies.
