Although the Federal Government’s Provisional Measure nº 959 deals with economic matters, its last article provides for the postponement to May 2021 of the entry into force of Law nº 13.709/2018 (LGPD). However, the following day, an amendment was presented to suppress said article. Nonetheless, previously drafted bill nº 1.179/2020 already predicted the postponement to 2021 for the entry into force of the General Data Protection Act. The matter needs to be decided by the National Congress but the postponement to 2021 seems likely.
