On 13 August 2020, the Federal Senate approved Bill n°3975/2019 which establishes new conditions for the renegotiation of the hydrological risk of electricity generation. This unanimously approved bill also provides for the distribution of revenue from the marketing of oil, natural gas and other hydrocarbon fluids. Since this bill had already been approved by the Chamber of Deputees, it now awaits presidential sanction. The matters covered by the bill will be regulated by the Brazilian Electricity Regulatory Agency.
